Warm welcome from Latvia!
We were called “the best party people” in the Baltic Championship; at Oxford IV 2008 the Irish said that ‘we have balls’. Who are we? We are the SSE Riga & LMT Debate Society, who is happy to introduce you to SSE Riga IV 2009. Run for the eleventh time this year, it is the oldest and arguably the most prestigious debate competition in the Central and Eastern Europe.

Our Society highly values certain things: intelligent, insightful yet fun and controversial debating, and … crazy socials. We promise you to have both of these here at SSE Riga IV 2009.

How do we do it? First, we have invited some of the world’s most prominent adjudicators of university debating. This will not only ensure fair treatment of all the participants, but even more importantly will let them experience the quality of feedback one could only dream about.. Second, we are going to organize a massive thematic party on Saturday night, demonstrating what a term ‘party hard’ truly means.

We hope you are already getting excited about coming to Riga, which itself is a place definitely worth visiting. I would suggest checking out the other sections of our webpage, which will provide you with more detailed information about the tournament. Then if you want to be here (for sure you do) and experience it for real, you simply need to fill in the registration form.
